DC Monuments Run and Google Maps

So, this weekend, Laura and I were up in DC for the wreath laying ceremony in Arlington Cemetery, which was amazing. Hundreds of volunteers came out in 30 degree weather to place 10,000 donated wreathes across the cemetery. It's a pretty inspiring site, so if you're traveling to DC for the holidays I recommend passing by for a visit.
And, as several of our Team Groove members are DC residents or will be visiting DC during our training season, I thought I'd post my favorite run along the monuments. It's a about a 7 mile run, takes you around the Tidal Basin and the TJ memorial... down the mall to the Capitol Building, back to the Washington Monument, along the reflecting pool past the WW II memorial, around the Lincoln, and finally over the Memorial Bridge and back. The blue dot is where I usually can always find parking and I start/end my run from there.

I created this cool map with Google Maps... If you go to My Maps, you can draw lines on any mapped area creating a route and Google will calculate the distance for you! Lucky Garmin owners don't have to worry about tracking distance, but for the rest of us, Google Maps is a great way to create and track new running routes.
