A few years back, Mike started getting into CrossFit to take his fitness to the next level and he used to rave about it... being such cardio rats we never quite understood how a 20 minute workout could make such a difference, but the intensity and variation of the workouts challenges your body in a way cardio workouts simply just can't. So, go to the website and check out CrossFit (http://www.crossfit.com/), if you're looking for a new challenge, start mixing some of their daily workouts into your running routine! Take it slow though, and don't over do it! Marathon/Half Marathon training in itself is quite enough!
Another excellent recommendation for cross training if you are an Inlet Fitness member (and sorry to be biased here but a know a bunch of us are) are the Monday night SPICE classes (sports conditioning/interval training/windsprints/basically you want to puke 10 mins into the class), or their many Spin classes, our favorite instructors are (Phil/Rick/Rod/Becca). These workouts are a great cardio variation from our weekly running schedule and are an awesome kick-in-the-a##!
