Yoga: Runner's Best Defense for Injury

So the miles may be starting to add up... especially if you're training for the full, so I wanted to mention a few yoga classes that Laura and I and several others have recommended in the area. Yoga is an awesome way to keep your hip flexors and hamstrings from getting too tight, and they say (I'm no expert here) it helps with your runner's stride. I know I'm constantly getting injured when I train and yoga has made a significant impact on my ability to run longer distances.
For the hot yoga fans, many have raved about Hot House Yoga on Laskin Road, and Hot Yoga Virginia Beach on Great Neck, both have a variety of yoga packages and active military discounts. Get ready to sweat though, Hot Yoga is quite a workout so bring a towel and lots of water! What I like about hot yoga is that if you lack flexibility the heat loosens up your muscles and helps you get into poses easier... also, it always feels good to detoxify with a little sweat!
As for other yoga classes, I know Inlet Fitness has quite a few, Laura's a big fan of their Power Yoga Tues/Thurs 7am with Ann, and Sat at 10am with Chad/Carrie.
